Tsvetanova Receives ASPET Division for Molecular Pharmacology Early Career Award

Nikoleta Tsvetanova, PhDassistant professor of pharmacology and cancer biology, has been awarded the 2025 Division for Molecular Pharmacology Early Career Award from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). The award recognizes scholarly achievements of junior investigators early in their independent careers.

Tsvetanova is receiving the award in recognition of her transformative research into understanding the biochemical and spatial organization of signaling pathways used by G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are the largest and most versatile class of signaling receptors in mammalian cells.

Her laboratory applies a combination of high-throughput quantitative approaches and cell biology techniques to systematically dissect the mechanisms and consequences of GPCR signaling. In announcing the award, ASPET noted her application of “innovative, multi-omics approaches to elucidate mechanisms underlying GPCR biology.”

“As a long-standing member of ASPET and specifically, of the molecular pharmacology division, I am truly honored by this recognition,” Tsvetanova said. “This award is not only a testament to the hard work and dedication of my research team but also a reflection of the incredible support from mentors and colleagues in ASPET and beyond.”

The award will be presented on April 5, 2025, during the ASPET 2025 Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon, where Tsvetanova has been invited to give a lecture about her work.
