Darnell awarded V Foundation grant

Alicia Darnell, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, was recently awarded a V Scholar grant from the V Foundation for Cancer Research. She will receive $600,000 over three years to support her research, which "studies what happens when cancer cells don't have enough arginine."

The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, North Carolina State University basketball coach. Dr. Darnell's award is funded with support from Hockey Fights Cancer powered by the V Foundation presented by AstraZeneca. The V Foundation has funded nearly $400 million in cancer research grants through a competitive process supervised by a world-class Scientific Advisory Committee.
